Sleep Disorders Center
The Sleep Disorders Center at River Park Hospital specializes in helping patients who may have sleep disorders. The center is designed to be as comfortable as possible for patients who stay overnight so a sleep technician can monitor their sleep habits and record information for physicians to review for follow-up treatment and recommendations.
Good sleep is important for good health. But according to the National Sleep Foundation, 65% of Americans report that they do not get enough sleep (most adults need six to eight hours.) Sleep disorders and lack of sleep are not just annoyances; they are serious problems. Those with sleep problems may think or move more slowly, make more mistakes or have memory difficulties. These negative effects can lead to poor job productivity and can be a contributing factor in motor vehicle accidents, weight gain, heart problems, colds and flu. Lack of sleep can also strain emotions, family and job relationships and social encounters, and lead to greater health problems if left untreated.
If you are having difficulty sleeping at night, or wake up in the morning feeling like you didn’t sleep at all, you’re not alone. 50 million Americans are affected by a sleep problem. Take action and improve the quality of your slumber. A good night’s sleep is essential to your mental, physical and emotional health.
