The Family Birth Unit at River Park Hospital consists of six private rooms. Each room is equipped with all the technology and equipment needed to monitor both mother and baby during delivery and throughout their stay. For most births, the mother remains in the same room from the moment they arrive until they depart, allowing her to avoid any uncomfortable transfers from room to room.

Baby Janet Isabella is the 2012 New Year Baby, born on January 1, 2012. She is the daughter of Isabel Luna and Margarito Barrera.
The Family Birth Unit offers childbirth education classes to expecting parents. Each class is taught by an experienced labor and delivery nurse and is offered as a four week course or an all day session to accommodate most schedules. Breastfeeding classes, taught by a certified lactation consultant, are also offered throughout the year. All classes are offered to the general public and are free to those planning to deliver atRiverParkHospital.
RiverParkHospital’s FBU utilizes the Safe Place RF Technology Infant Security System. This advanced system provides improved security for infants – protecting against infant abductions – while allowing families and visitors freer access to visit the new mom and baby in the FBU. A transmitter is placed on the infant’s ankle after delivery and the Safe Place system locks the doors when a baby is in proximity, alarms if a band is cut and has a global lockdown feature for certain alarms. The system has been in place since early 2010 and has received praise from patients, employees, physicians and visitors alike.
Our Pediatric staff are Pediatric Advance Life Support certified and our Newborn Nursery staff is Neonatal Resuscitation Program certified.

Baby Sam was born in early 2010 at River Park's Family Birth Unit. Sam was one of our first babies to utilize the Safe Place infant security band technology.
