Mammography (ACR Accredited)
Mammograms are low energy X-rays of the breast that are used to screen apparently normal breasts for cancer. Early detection of breast cancer is known to save lives. Yearly mammograms are recommended for women 40 and over, though screening schedules should be determined by your physician.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
A stereotactic breast biopsy is a procedure that is used to evaluate breast tissue. Under local anesthetic a sterile biopsy needle is placed into the breast tissue area to be biopsied. Computerized pictures help confirm the exact needle placement then tissue samples are taken through the needle.

Other Radiology Services

Bone Densitometry
River Park Hospital's bone densitometer takes Bone Mineral Density (BMD) measurements, which enable our radiologist to determine a patient's risk of fracture and osteoporosis. Our professionally trained and certified staff utilizes a Lunar DPX Alpha densitometer for high-resolution imaging and fast, precise measurements.

Cardiac Imaging
Cardiac Imaging, or heart caths, is x-rays of the coronary arteries and other blood vessels. Our GE Advantx system provides high speed imaging and captures the best possible images.

It means that your physician gets outstanding image quality and you get lower doses of radiation for improved safety and a shorter procedure for improved comfort. It means that River Park Hospital is now home to one of the most advanced diagnostic tools for helping physicians reach confident diagnoses to provide the very best in patient care.

Extracorporeal Lithotripsy
Lithotripsy, a minimally invasive procedure, uses high-pressure shock waves to fragment kidney stones into sand-like particles. Lithotripsy is conducted with minimal anesthesia and reduces the need for ancillary procedures, making lithotripsy an excellent alternative to surgery.

Laparoscopy
In laparoscopy, a laparoscope is passed through a small incision in the abdominal wall. Fitted with grasping and cutting tools, the laparoscope is often done on an outpatient surgery basis.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI is a painless alternative to X-rays. With a large magnet, radiowaves and a computer, your body is scanned to provide very detailed pictures of areas that cannot be viewed on conventional X-rays. MRI exams make it possible for physicians to examine certain types of tissue and obtain important information that will help them in the diagnosis of disease, bone and joint abnormalities and a multitude of other possibilities.
