Diabetes Resource Center
The Diabetes Education Program at River Park Hospital is dedicated exclusively to patients diagnosed with diabetes and is designed to support safe, effective and affordable medical management of diabetes. Active patient participation is a key focus of the treatment approach. Patients and their families are provided with education materials and resources. Our staff consists of a registered nurse and a registered clinical dietition, both Certified Diabetes Educators.

Group training classes are available and consist of two classes approximately one week apart. The classes occur on a rotation basis, allowing flexible schedule options. Individual training courses are also available for those that need more personalized training. Patients needing insulin administration training, with gestational diabetes and with special needs such as language barriers, impaired vision and/or hearing, special learning needs and physical or mental limitations, are all eligible for individual diabetes training. A physician referral is required for all patients. Diabetes training is covered by most insurances, including Medicare and TennCare and hospital representatives are available to discuss any financial or insurance issues.

The Diabetes Resource Center is located in the Physician’s Office Building behind the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department and Family Birth Center at River Park Hospital. Physical Therapy
River Park Hospital's Inpatient Rehabilitation Center and Outpatient Rehabilitation services deals with the treatment of pain, disease, or injury. Our therapists are concerned with the promotion of health, the prevention of physical disabilities, with evaluation and rehabilitation of persons disabled by pain, disease or injury and with treatment by physicial therapeutic measures.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at River Park Hospital gives the patients new hope, mobility and function, continuing their recovery as they transfer from the hospital ward after stroke, orthopaedic surgery or illness. The unit was founded in 1998 and is under the direction of Sadik Yesil, MD, who specializes in Neurology.

The 15-bed unit has the latest and best equipment to care for patients after a stroke or orthopaedic surgery like hip fractures, amputations, and joint replacements. Often, patients are additionally dehabilitated from post-operative complications or deconditioned from being bedridden. The unit's balanced program of therapies helps patients recover mobility and basic functions that depend on timely intervention.

An expert team of occupational, speech, and physical therapists work in the Inpatient Rehab Unit, and RN's are on duty 24 hours a day. The team approach is critical to ensure that a patient's long-term needs are being met and every day activities can be resumed as soon as possible.
